Today, we’re chatting with one of our models, Kathryn. She has the COOLEST ear stacks we have ever seen irl. It was so fun to style her and curate a look for her multiple stretched lobe piercings when she came into our studio. We asked her a few questions to get to know her better – including tips for your next piercing!
Once we saw Kathryn's healthy and healed piercings, we knew that we had to ask about them first!
Let's get into it...
First things first, when did you get your first piercing?
I got my first piercing when I was around eight months old as an Italian tradition. I cried like a baby, as a baby would, but I am very thankful for it now that I am older.
What is your favorite piercing?
My all time favorite piercing of mine is my daith. It’s stylish, painless, and also a pressure point for migraines. Cute and effective!
Which of your piercings hurt the most? The least?
My double helix definitely hurt the most out of all my piercings, two piercings at once really isn’t fun. Surprisingly, my septum piercing hurt the least. It was quick to heal and easy to hide if needed. I definitely recommend this piercing to people who are new to them.
Do you have advice for someone who is considering a new piercing?
Always keep the healing process into consideration. Most piercings do take three months or longer to heal, make sure you are committed to continuously cleaning and caring for your new piercing!
When did you start stretching your lobes? Do you have advice for someone who is stretching their ears?
I started stretching my ears around four years ago and am currently at a 00g. My biggest advice for people newly stretching is patience. Getting up to the size you want will take months, you must stay patient or else you can cause major damage to your lobes.

Do you have any tips around getting pierced, changing, or caring for your piercings?
When getting pierced, make sure you’re going to a reputable place. It is very easy to go to a Claire’s to receive a piercing without a second thought. It is very important to go to an actual piercing/tattoo shop so that you are getting pierced by a professional rather than someone with a piercing gun.
Again, patience is key especially when changing piercings. If you change too early, your ear may become very irritated and will disrupt the healing process.
What’s your favorite piece of jewelry from your photoshoot with Pierced Owl?
Without a question, the holographic plugs that I wore are my absolute favorite. They are simple, elegant and shimmer in light. Definitely a favorite.

Ok-- Now that we got all of our questions about her piercings out of the way, let's find out more about Kathryn!
What’s the weirdest thing you carry in your purse/bag/wallet?
I carry four EpiPens on me at all times. Definitely excessive but, I can never be too cautious with my allergies.
How would you describe your style?
I would consider what I wear as street style. I enjoy wearing the biggest pants I can find combined with also the biggest shirt I can find.
What is something you would change about the country you live in?
Free healthcare, please.
Is there a piece of advice you’d give anyone and everyone?
Right now isn’t forever. However stressful, traumatizing, or dramatic something feels in your life will soon be the past. Stay patient and hopeful.
