Before You Begin:
Always make sure that your piercing is completely healed before changing it! Changing your piercing during the healing period can cause damage and prolong the process.
Before changing your piercing, triple check that the jewelry you are changing into is the correct fit! That means that the gauge size, diameter, and length matches your previous piece.

Using String to Open a Hinged Segment Ring:
Opening a hinged segment ring while it’s on your nose or ear is super intimidating! Depending on how small the ring is, it can feel impossible. Using a piece of string (or a hair band, floss, etc.) thread it through the ring and pull gently to open.

Poster Putty on a Cotton Swab:
Apply some poster putty to a cotton swab, pencil, or hair pin and push your piercing ball into the putty. Next, twist your jewelry into place. Secure the threading with your fingers and voila! Your jewelry is on!

Additional Hacks:
Eyelash Glue:
Similar to the poster putty method, this hack requires a cotton swab. Apply lash glue to the swab and allow for it to get tacky. Next, place your jewelry ball onto the glue. Your bead should stay on while you thread it onto the barbell or post.
Holey Butt'r:
Lubricating your piercing makes for an effortless insertion! Our Holey Butt'r lobe cream can be used on ear or septum piercings to prepare the piercing prior to putting jewelry in! Though it makes jewelry slippery and harder to hold, disposable gloves can help avoid butter fingers!
